Why Become a Member?
The Arizona Asthma Coalition is a non-profit partnership founded in 1996 by concerned stakeholders in public heath, environmental services, managed care, individual physicians and nurses. The goals of the Arizona Asthma Coalition are to reduce illness and deaths from asthma and to improve the quality of life for people living with asthma. Members of the Coalition believe that better asthma education and awareness will help achieve our goals of asthma prevention and improved quality of care for people living with asthma. The Arizona Asthma Coalition advocates better services and improved quality of life for persons with asthma in Arizona, through partnership development and coalition building.
The Coalition has been very active over the past two years, developing many new tools and educational projects, to help physicians, patients and their families. Some of these projects are:
- An updated Coalition web site.
- A position paper titled, "Breathing Easier in Arizona: An Action Plan for Change"
- An informational mailing to school superintendents and school nurses regarding the new student self-carry laws for asthma medications.
- A Provider’s Tool Kit
- A School Nurse Tool Kit
- A Patient/Family Tool Kit
- An asthma curriculum for school nurses to present to school administrators and personnel
- An annual Asthma Conference for Physicians, Nurses, School Nurses, Respiratory Therapists, Asthma Educators and Managed Care Providers
- Participation in an Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality Learning Partnership
- Sponsored a workshop, titled "Culturally Responsive Health Care: A Workshop for Pediatric Asthma Providers"
- Worked with communities to support the creation of local asthma coalitions
We are counting on you to support the work of the Coalition, through your membership dues. Membership dues not only help fund the projects of the Coalition, but more importantly sends a strong message to potential stakeholders, corporate sponsors and foundations. That message is that 100% of our membership supports the mission of the Arizona Asthma Coalition by paying membership dues. That is why your membership is so important to furthering our efforts to build capacity and sustainability.
You are involved with the Arizona Asthma Coalition, because you are passionate about improving the lives of people living with asthma in Arizona. However, there are additional benefits to becoming a dues paying member. Only dues paying members will:
- Be able to vote on all AAC business
- Receive discounts to the annual asthma conference
- Receive discounts to other asthma events and products
