The Pharmaceutical Research and Manufacturers of America (PhRMA) publishes a directory of companies, which provide drugs to physicians whose patients might not otherwise have access to needed medicines. Ask your doctor if you qualify for any of these programs.
The Cost Containment Research Institute has created a thirty-two-page booklet, "Free and Low Cost Prescription Drugs." It lists phone numbers and addresses of eighty-five pharmaceutical companies and an easy-to-use index of the drugs they make, plus contact information for five discount mail-order services. To be eligible for these programs, patients must be referred by a physician and meet criteria for assistance. The listings are available free at the institute’s web site - www.institute-dc.org
